Date seed coffee, also known as date pit coffee, is a traditional and nutritious beverage gaining popularity in the Middle East. Made from roasted and ground date seeds, this caffeine-free alternative to regular coffee has a rich, nutty flavour with subtle caramel notes. Historically, date seed coffee has been enjoyed for its health benefits, including aiding digestion, boosting energy, and providing antioxidants.
The process of making date seed coffee involves cleaning, drying, roasting, and grinding the date seeds to create a fine powder, which is then brewed like traditional coffee. Dates are a staple part of the diet during Ramadan and this is a sustainable way to make use of date seeds, reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices.
