An Acai Bowl (pronounced ah-sigh-EE) is a popular and nutritious breakfast made with Acai berries. Acai berries are small, dark purple fruits that grow on the Acai palm tree native to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. They are known for their rich flavour and high antioxidant content.
Ingredients
- 2 tsp Açaà Powder
- Handful frozen berries
- ½ a ripe Banana, sliced
- Handful ice cubes
- 100 ml Milk or Water
Instructions
Place the açaà powder, frozen berries, banana and ice cubes into a powerful blender with 100ml water. Blitz until smooth, then pour into a bowl and add your choice of toppings.
Variations and Serving Suggestions
Add your favourite toppings. Here are some suggestions:
- Fresh or dry fruit -Â Such as Bananas, Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Kiwi, Raisins.
- Granola - This provides some crunchy texture as well as additional fibre.
- Nuts and Seeds - Such as sliced Almonds, Chia Seeds, or Hemp Seeds.  Â
- Honey, Maple Syrup or Agave Nectar - For added sweetness.
- Coconut flakes or Desiccated Coconut -Â Adds a tropical flavour and texture.
- Nut butter - Drizzle over some Almond butter, Peanut butter or Tahini for added creaminess.
Storage
Acai Bowls are best consumed within 24 hours. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
